Obituary

Mitchell “Mike” Modelski, born on December 24, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Carleton, Michigan, at the age of 79.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He retired from a fulfilling career at Chrysler, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment. In his retirement, Mike found joy in spending time with his loved ones, often sharing his great sense of humor and playful spirit with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the quiet challenge of Sudoku and crossword puzzles.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Phyllis Modelski; his daughter, Carolyn and son, Dustin; his brothers, Del and Timmy, and sister Judy.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Charlotte, and his cherished children: Eddie (Donna) Rakes, Michael (Tonia) Modelski, Robin (Tim) Hammon, and Jaydee (Amy Helm) Modelski. Mike was the proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren: Tony (Rachel), Sabrina, Jousseline, Eddie (Paije), Jaydee, Dustin, Breona, Mikey, Jacob, Kaylee, Violet, Brian, and Mollyann. He was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren. Mike is survived by his brothers, Wally and Tom (Peggy) Modelski.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service to honor Mike’s life will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by entombment at Michigan Memorial Park.
