  • It is with a heavy heart that I will miss Rich’s presence in my life. His gentle spirit & generosity knew no bounds. There was no topic that he couldn’t entertain you with his encyclopedic knowledge of facts. His first and foremost love was his bride, Donna Sue. They shared such a bond of love and togetherness. They were partners in love and life eternal. Just short of 50 years of marriage together, their example of how to live life and be witness to their vows is a testament for all to emulate. Richard’s other loves were fishing and his Bronco II. He placed 100% energy in those fields. I accompanied Richard on occasion to both of those endeavors. He was passionate and fierce to be the best and catch the biggest fish or to win the trophy for the best in show vehicle, (which he did often). Another passion of his was a friendly game of poker when family & friends would gather for holidays. He could read your cards by your facial expressions. Simple pleasures for a man larger than life. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” Bob
  • Donna, I was so saddened to hear of Rich’s passing. The two of you were so good together. I smile at the memory of running into the two of you at the Royal Park hotel. You were watching for celebrities when you spotted me. Rich was disappointed that I wasn’t Paula Abdul, but we had a great laugh about it. That’s what I remember about Rich. His sense of humor and great laugh. My heart breaks for you. Sorry that I can’t be there to say goodbye. Sending love and hugs. Paula Lamont
  • Rich and Donna, Donna and Rich. It's hard to speak Rich's name without Donna, but it's him we've lost and must acknowledge the sad absence of such a strong personality and celebrate our connection to this dear friend. Personally, he and Donna were fun, supportive, and ever present in the Ford Air community and I was a most grateful recipient of their company. Their invitations to boat trips, riverside lunches, travel, and parties gave me a sense of belonging to a treasured club ... friends of Rich and Donna. Our lunches were always fun because we were politically simpatico and could rant (especially Rich) without censure, but also because it felt like family. He took great delight in teasing me about my dating life (or lack of) among other things but I welcomed the teasing in the spirit of brotherly friendship. One special get together was downriver, unfamiliar territory for me, and so was given directions. However, as I drove, somehow I kept going and going and going. Many phone calls later, I was informed I'd driven past the restaurant 3 or 4 times to the chagrin of Donna and the delight of Rich because it gave him more fodder to tease me about my general cluelessness. Donna finally had enough and sent Rich out onto the highway to flag me down on my umpteenth pass. He loved it, I loved it, and we three laughed our way through lunch. This is a long-winded way to say how much I'll miss Rich and that it's going to take me a long time to not say Rich and Donna ... he, they, are so inseparable in my happy memories. Love you, Donna Pam Barney

  • I am always saddened when I see an email from Pauline. Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss of Rich. I wish I had known of his interest in old cars as we were probably at a few shows at the same time. I have fond memories of you both. Dick & Vicki Sipp Richard Sipp
  • Dear Donna, I can’t tell you how sad I was to hear about Rich. You two were the perfect couple and I have so many wonderful memories of our times together. He was so great to Pam and I after we lost our husbands - keeping us laughing. You both helped so much. Although we have moved a ways from each other I consider you very, very dear friends. I hope to see you soon. Hugs and love, Pauline Smart
