Richard Patrick Mayer, born on January 8, 1964, in Milton, Florida, passed away on October 4, 2024, in Shelby Township, Michigan, at the age of 60.
Richard was a dedicated professional with a career in the Internet Technology field. His passion for technology was matched only by his love for history, photography, architecture, and vintage automobiles. These interests found a perfect home at the Packard Proving Grounds, where Richard devoted countless hours as a docent, offering historical tours and participating in numerous events. His work there, including photographing, detailing vintage cars, and even the simple act of pulling weeds from the parking lot, brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Richard's educational journey began at Airport Community Schools in Monroe, followed by further studies at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. His pursuit of knowledge and understanding was evident throughout his life, whether through his professional work or his personal hobbies.
Preceding him in death was his beloved mother, Carolyn Mayer. Richard is survived by his father, Joseph Mayer; his sister, Michelle Seybolt, and her husband, Robert; his nieces, Amy and Ashley Seybolt; and his nephew, Anthony Seybolt. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will cherish the memory of his warmth, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to the things he loved.
