Obituary
Susan was born at Seaway Hospital in Trenton. Her family moved to Riverview in 1970. She graduated from Riverview Community High School in 1981. Susan was a happy mischievous child who got enjoyment out of winding up her two older brothers (they certainly did not approve of G.I. Joe filling in for Ken). However, she matured into a thoughtful, caring, intelligent, and meticulous person. When someone moved into the neighborhood Susan quickly made acquaintances and then became friends with them.
Those qualities assisted in her career as a Secretary. First with J. Walter Thompson and then UAW Legal Services until 2015. Since then she has devoted much of her time to caring for her Father and Mother. That was just another example of her caring nature as she devoted time to charitable efforts, especially the University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center and Goodfellows in Brownstown.
Susan was a lifelong bowler, picking up the sport from her parents, sharing participation in leagues with them for a time. She was an active member of the Wednesday Night Ladies League at Flat Rock Lanes. When summer rolled around it was a switch to golfing with the Ladies League on Tuesday evenings.
Susan also loved the beach and travel. She loved spending vacations with her brother and his family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She was also the veteran of several cruises to Caribbean destinations with her friends.
Susan is survived by her Mother, Alice Jean Merritt, Brother, William David Merritt, Nieces Melissa Merritt, Jennifer Merritt-Kesler (Husband Michael Merritt-Kesler), Ashley Hash, and her Grand-Nephew, Drae Hash. Susan was preceded in passing by her Father, Marcus William Merritt, and Brother, Mark Edward Merritt.
