Obituary
Teresa D. Moore, founder of Adopt-A-Child Size & Support Services, Inc. 501(c)(3), died at age 86. Through her non-profit and team of volunteers, Moore provided clothing, books, and toys for over 15,000 children and families in Southeast Michigan. Teresa started Adopt-A-Child Size before retiring from Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), where she served as Director of Human Resources, Director of Student Staff Relations, and Social Worker for Head Start Programs. Teresa’s passion for enhancing people’s lives spanned a 60-year career that began with earning degrees in Social Work from Ohio State University (Bachelor’s degree) and the University of Michigan (Master’s degree). In various roles, she assured compliance with federal regulations, cared for unwed mothers, prevented child abuse, promoted early childhood development, and served as Program Director for the YWCA. Teresa received numerous professional, state, and community awards for her expertise and dedication. Teresa D. Moore is survived by her daughters Valerie Myers and Erica Myers, sister Marilyn (David) Wash, aunt Eloise (Peak) David, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, bonus grandchildren, neighbors, friends, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. sisters. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Elmer O. and Vivian E. David, brother Baldwin G. David, husband Harvey Moore, and husband Frederick Myers.
