Obituary

MARSHALL, Thomas O., age 71, of Romulus, November 23, 2019. Beloved husband of Gwenda Marshall for 39 years. Cherished father of Gina (Dan) and Lee. Proud grandfather of Lynette (DJ), Michael, Thomas (Catie), Lyric, Stephen, Alex, Travis and Diamond and great-grandfather of Amelia. He is also survived by brother Jeffery (Carla) and his sister Carolyn (Steve). He is preceded in death by his parents Emogene and Justin Marshall. Tom was born in Southwest Detroit and graduated from Western Highschool in 1966. He continued on to work for Michigan Bell as a cable splicer for 30 years. Anyone who knew Tom knew of his huge heart and desire to help anyone he could. Tom used this generosity and compassion in his everyday life. He graduated with honors from Toledo School of Nursing with his LPN. He used this skillset to help those in downriver nursing homes and in group home for men with mental and physical challenges. One of Toms favorite past times was his 6,000 square foot garden. On any given day you could find Tom in his garden and if he wasn’t in his garden he was researching, reading or planning for his garden. Tom was very creative and displayed this through his homemade birdhouses and figurines. Some of these original and detailed birdhouses could be found at a shop in Wyandotte and in his families homes. Both of Toms kids will tell you that he could answer every question on Jeopardy. Tom was a vault of information and he never stopped wanting to learn more! He spent much of his time reading and writing poetry. Coming the spring of 2020, Tom was planning to enroll in classes to become a Registered Nurse (RN). His cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
