Obituary

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Laura A. Nogrady. She was taken from her loved ones just 2 weeks after her 42nd birthday..too soon-triple negative breast cancer is a wretched beast. Laura was preceded in death by her beloved mother Linda. She is survived by her loving and supportive son, Anthony. She is also survived by her father, Alex, her sister, nieces, nephew, great niece, aunts, uncles , cousins and her kitty Sergei! In addition to her support team and best friends, no sisters really, for over 31 years Deann D'Onofrio, Angela Hilberg, Jeanette Pierce and Josephine Parker. Laura put everyone else first. She told me that one out of four women get diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and she said she was "taking one for the team"-though we never would have asked her to endure what she did to try to survive. The girl was brave! She fought this monster with everything she had. She took on every known treatment and clinical trial in order to stop this thing. Alas, the tools at her disposal were not enough to beat "Ivan the terrible" -- this was her nickname for the invader in her body. She didn't want this announced in the newspaper, but those who love her could not let her passing go unnoticed, we could not honor her request, because we believe that she deserves more than to pass away quietly. She deserves to have the thoughts and prayers of those who are reading this to travel up to her in her heaven and know that she was loved, she was thought of kindly by others and she will be missed. Not just by those closest to her, but by those who worked with, schooled with or even dater her. She is more than a name in the obituaries, she was the best person most of us will ever have had the pleasure to meet. Only the good die young? Yes, in this case it is confirmed! She is off to be with the angels, and her mother that she has missed so desperately. I know she will be watching over us and smiling, she will forever be young and beautiful as she was in life. Laura chose not to have a funeral. She requested that those closest to her have a "party" for her instead. This will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, may you take the opportunity to send those flowers to someone you love and tell them how much you care. However, if you feel you must do more, please make a donation in Laura's name to The Michigan Humane Society, Angela Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
