Obituary

Robert Milton Van Noord - a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on December 18, 2025 in Trenton, Michigan at the age of 81. Born on October 11, 1944, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, generosity, and service to others.

Robert was a proud electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and helped build schools, hospitals, airports, and nuclear power stations from Florida to Washington state.  His commitment to his work and his colleagues was unwavering, and he led by example, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Robert donated a lot of his free time to his family, friends, neighbors, churches and clubs.  He served terms as deacon and elder at Huron Valley Reformed Church and Fort Lauderdale Christian Reformed Church over 4 decades, as well as President of the Carleton Sportsmen’s Club, where he shared his passion for shooting sports with others.  Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his life.

Robert's character was defined by his humor, charm, intelligence, and deep faith. He was a stern yet loving figure, well-read and wise, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was cherished as a favorite uncle and adored his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Sr.) and Greta Van Noord, his brother-in-law, Lloyd Osterink, and his sister-in-law, Kristie Van Noord.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Laura Van Noord; his sons, Craig (Raelene) Van Noord and Mark (Jamie) Van Noord; and his five beloved grandchildren, Reid, Cole, Farrah, Brooke, and Willow.  He also leaves behind his sisters, Crystal Osterink and Mary (Jim) Meiste, his brother, Steve Van Noord, and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Those who wish to honor Robert's memory may make a donation in his name to the IBEW Local 58 Benevolent Fund – Detroit.
