Robert “Rocko” Nicholl, age 44, of Newport, went home to the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. His Sunrise was on December 16, 1969 and his final Sunset was on January 18, 2014. He was a loving husband of Tessa and a devoted father of McKenna and Drew. Rob’s endearing parents, John and Helen, have been nurturing role models throughout his life. Gail and Mike McDermott will forever cherish the son that they never had. Loyal brother of John (Connie), Ken (Kathy) and Steve (Robyn). Fun loving uncle of Sean, Conor, Brendan, Noah, Ian, Aidan, Claire and Brady. He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents. Rob proudly served his country in the United States Navy (1990-1993). He was a dedicated employee of Delta Airlines. He was a sincere and faithful friend to all. He lived life to the fullest using humor as the cornerstone of life’s approach. With very heavy hearts we will remember Rob’s grace, courage, strength and dignity in living life until we meet again.
