Condolences

  • Alysia was not only my cousin, she was a sister to me and my best friend. We were so close in age our parents put us together as babies. She was the first person I ever loved besides my parents. Ever since I was a little girl whenever I got sick or broke a bone (which was a lot), I would get really sad because I couldn't play outside with the other kids. But my mom knew the answer: she'd call my Aunt Jan to bring Alysia over. Her bright smile, tinkling laugh and warm personality would cheer me up every time. As adults our friendship ebbed and flowed just like any other friendship. But the last few years of her life we got really close. We talked almost every single day on the phone. We could tell each other everything and anything and not judge each other for it and just love each other flaws and all. She would frequently comment how genuine our friendship was. We were both grateful for it. She has left an empty hole in my heart and life. I miss her dearly. Till we meet again, Lish. I in want you to greet me at the gates of heaven. Melissa Keryn
