Obituary

OLDFIELD, Richard L., age 74, of Grosse Ile, November 11, 2018. Beloved husband of Cathleen Oldfield. Loving father of Lisa Ellen Oldfield. Dearest brother of Carol Klages. He will be loved and missed by his faithful Pomeranian friend “Charlie”. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lulu Olive Oldfield and his sister Jeanne Dionne. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Richard was the son of Lulu Olive and Richard G. Oldfield. As a child Rich was lucky to share summers with his Canadian cousins, in Clinton, Ont. His neighbors the Trevino’s were babysat by him. Nora Trevino was his 2nd mother. His mom and dad lived in Ecorse. His dad was honored to be Assistant Chief of Police. Rich loved his friends and enjoyed his many friends, Larry, Barry and Donnie. After graduation from Ecorse High School he joined the Army. He was given the position of payroll audit clerk in New York State. After leaving the service he worked for American Express in New York. He then returned home to attend U of M, Dearborn. Rich and Cathy met then. They married in June 1974. He became a State of Michigan civil servant as a consultant. His talent as a writer enabled him to do research in various areas. He enjoyed the public and focused on them. His co-worker Moises Andrades embraced us. Asked us to visit family the Quistians of Mexquitec de Casomona SLF MX. They shared their love. Our friend Greg Gilden was gifted to us during Greg’s high school years, he became the son we never had. Rich was a Mason Eastern Star. He enjoyed Trenton VFW and American Legion. In 1985-6 he moved to Grosse Ile and surrounded himself with its beauty.
