Obituary
Barbara Jean Podsiad, born June 20, 1950, in Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, in Riverview, Michigan, at the age of 74.
Barbara dedicated much of her life to the laborious and honorable work in the steel industry. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout her career, and she was respected by all who knew her professionally.
Beyond her professional life, Barbara found joy in many pursuits. She was an ardent lover of crossword puzzles, which she approached with the same determination she did her work. A voracious reader, she always had a book in her hand and found delight in the worlds they opened to her. Her love for nature was evident in the way she meticulously tended to her flower garden, a testament to her nurturing spirit and patience.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Stanley and Sophie Jakubiak, as well as one brother and one sister. She also mourned the loss of her husband, Frederick Podsiad, with whom she shared many years of happiness and partnership.
She is survived by her fiancé, William Kozikowski, who stood by her side with unwavering devotion. Her legacy lives on through her children: Frederick (Amanda) Podsiad, James (Tammy) Podsiad, Mark Podsiad, Heather (Nick) Lazaris, and Scott Podsiad. Her memory will further be cherished by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Barbara’s siblings also carry forward her memory and the bond they shared.
Barbara Jean Podsiad lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet passions. She will be remembered fondly by all those who knew her and loved her.
