Dale Edward Preussner, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, mentor and dear friend passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Dale was born December 20, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late George and Mable (Carlson) Preussner. His younger brother Wayne (Helen) Preussner also preceded him in death. After graduating from Glenbard East High School, Dale attended University of Michigan where he received his Bachelor’s in Engineering then earned his Master’s in Education from Eastern Michigan University. As a newly enrolled student at U of M, he met the love of his life Donna Von Dette when dialing for operator assistance to place a call to his mother in Chicago. That call changed the trajectory of his life; the teenagers met, fell in love and were married on August 5, 1968, and they spent the next 52 years navigating and enjoying daily life together. In addition to his wife Donna, Dale is survived by his daughter Melissa (Timothy) Jeffries, son Matthew (Viridiana) Preussner, and grandchildren Stephanie (Nathaniel), Jacob, Shelby, Matthew, Ethan, and Baby Boy Schick, due March 31, 2021. Dale is also survived by his dearest lifelong friend George Mitchell whom he loved like a brother.
