Howard Bertram Pelton, born April 15, 1935, in New Boston, Michigan, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at the age of 89.
A lifelong resident of Michigan, Howard dedicated much of his life to hard work and service. He spent his career as a laborer in the automotive industry, a testament to his steadfast commitment and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Howard pursued many interests that brought joy to him and those around him. He drove the church bus every Sunday, ensuring that children could attend church services, reflecting his deep sense of community and faith.
Howard had a lifelong fascination with trains, which was nurtured during his time working on the railroad. He also served as a scout master, sharing his love for the outdoors by traveling and camping with his truck and camper. Above all, he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories through shared adventures and family gatherings.
Howard was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Yvonne Pelton; sons, Howard, Jr. and Daniel; sisters, Vivian, Viola, and Verna; and his parents, Bertron and Eva. He is survived by his loving children, Harold Pelton, Herbert (Wendy) Pelton, Bonny (John) Cardinell, and Becky (James) Rutherford; his sister, Virginia; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. His legacy will continue to thrive through the family he loved so dearly.
A cemetery service will be held at Michigan Memorial Park on Friday, March 14, 2025, beginning at 12:30 PM, with interment to follow in Michigan Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a tree be planted in memory of Howard, ensuring that his spirit continues to grow and flourish.
