PROFFITT, John B., age 86, of New Boston, March 27, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Lillian Proffitt. Loving father of Keith (Paula) Proffitt. Dearest grandfather of Jessica (Ben) Ledbetter, Daniel (Samantha) Proffitt, Nicholas Proffitt, Matthew Proffitt and Jenna Proffitt. He is the great-grandfather of Cody, Conner, Colton and Lillian Ledbetter. He is also survived by his brother Robert Proffitt and his sister Barbara. He is preceded in death by his sons Terry Proffitt and Warren Proffitt, his parents Samuel and Anna Proffitt, his brothers Samuel, Al, David, Ed, James and Hunter as well as sisters Virginia and Martha. John was passionate about his family and friends. He and his wife Lillian shared a similar fondness in their love of gardening. Early in his career, he owned a landscaping business. He retired from BASF Wyandotte after 40 years as a chemical operator. He loved talking about his grandkids, hunting, saying meaningful grace over home-cooked family dinners and anyone who would share a sip of wine with him. He will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed.
