Obituary

PATTEN, Margaret Ann (always preferring to be called “Maggie”) was born on April 2, 1947 in Langdon, Cavalier County, North Dakota. Returned to God on October 10th, 2020 with her family beside her. Maggie’s genealogical ancestry traced her heritage to be from England to Prussia. Maggie was the second youngest of seven children of Reverend James W Patten and Ernestine Lois (Fleischer) Patten. She was preceded in death by her parents Reverend James and Ernestine Patten and all of her siblings: Lois Marie, Jon Warren, Charlotte Elizabeth Burdette (Page), Darryl Fleischer, David Lawrence and William “Brad” Bradway. Of strong character, deep Christian spirit, faith and integrity, Maggie touched the lives of many people with her generous and outgoing personality. At 5’2” with brilliant green eyes, she greeted every person with warmth and friendship. She attended elementary schools in Hitchcock and Rosholt, South Dakota before arriving in Winner, South Dakota where she completed grades 9 through 12 at the Winner, High School, graduating in May of 1965. On July 11, 1965 she married Gary Lynch in the Winner SD Methodist Church, officiated by her father, Reverend James W Patten. To this union, she is survived by her husband Gary Lynch, her children Ann Marie Burke (Thomas Martin Burke) of Omaha, NE, Warren Lee, Omaha NE, his children, Maggie’s granddaughter Kyrie Berlin and grandson Gareth Logan, Jon Eric (married to Vanessa Marie Bohaty), Durango, CO and Michael James, (married Rebekah Susan Porter) Trenton, MI and their children Maggie’s grandsons Julian Michael and Owen James. She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews: Children of Brad and Lois Jean Price Patten: Vicki Jean White (Gilbert Allen White) and Richard Bradway. Maggie will also be remembered by her special sister and her husband; Linda and Denny Hehn of Long Beach California and extended granddaughter Victoria Rose Abeyta. Most of her married life Maggie and her family lived in Omaha, Nebraska, moving to Trenton Michigan in 2016 with her husband in retirement to be with the family of her youngest son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rebekah and their family. Maggie’s career included managing the U. S. Postal contract sub-station at Chris Rexall. In 1997 she chartered Neonline, Inc. of Nebraska as President, providing consulting services for computer education and technical consulting. In 2010, she retired from First National Bank of Omaha where she was employed as a Professional Administrator. Her hobbies include making wedding cakes, specialty birthday cakes and gingerbread houses which were decorated by the students at Harrison Grade School, First United Methodist Church in Omaha Nebraska and Faith United Methodist Church in Trenton, Michigan. Maggie was also active in the Omaha Shaizwoka Sister City program, hosting students on exchange trips to Omaha, introducing them to students from Omaha schools, and holding classes to improve their English language skills and an understanding of our culture. She loved the outdoors, camping, preparing meals over and open fire and canoeing. Family reunions were very important to her, and she utilized social media to keep in touch with family and friends separated by time and space. • Maggie was my mother in law by marriage but always treated me as If I were one of her own children. Maggie was a bookworm to say the least and we enjoyed sharing and discussing what we read. She was sentimental, sometimes so much that we would both cry just talking about a commercial or movie. I could talk about anything, say anything and she always loved me, she always had my back. My favorite memories were making 300 gingerbread houses one year for the kids classrooms, Secret Santas every year, summers at the cabin, laughing in the kitchen (I will remember her laugh wherever I go) while making thanksgiving dinner (I made the green bean casserole) and how she showed me and made me apart of a family and her traditions. My deepest sympathies to her children and grandchildren who loved her so much. My heart breaks for you Gary. I love and miss you Dad. Tawnya Wylie
