Obituary

In loving memorial of Odell Pack, age 88, of Riverview, Michigan. Born on May 22, 1926 in Wayne Co. Cove Gap, West Virginia. During the spring of 1944 at the age of 18 he migrated to Detroit for employment, but soon returned back to his family’s home in West Virginia at the request of his father to help his mother maintain their farm. Once again returning in the fall of 1944 back to Detroit he moved this time for good, gaining employment working for McClouth Steel at the Jefferson Plant located in Detroit. He met his wife in 1944 on Junction Street in Detroit, MI. They than preceded to date for 2 years before getting married on May 9, 1946 at the justice of the peace in downtown Detroit. In the month of January 1955 him, his wife and with their 2 children at that time, bought a house relocating to Riverview Township. In May of 1955 he was able to transfer to the Gibraltar Plant continuing to work in the steel mill up until he retired from McClouth Steel in 1986. Odell was a member of the Democratic Club for over 20 years. A parishioner of Gilead Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, gardening and listening to his radio. Odell entered eternal rest on April 17, 2015 with his family close by his side from cancer. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. Pack. Loving father and dearest grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Judith Curry and Sheilia (Sonny) Tomblin. Grandchildren Michael, Christopher and Jeff Curry, Christine and Stacey Pack, Tesha Bias and Tony Tomblin, seventeen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, sisters Joan and Hazel, brother Clayton and brother-in-law Calvin Johnson. Preceded in death by his wife Dorothy E. Pack, his son Randell D. Pack, grandson Michael S. Pack, parents Arbit and Mary Pack, brother Home, Lonnie, Eddie. Roger, Jennings and sisters Vaudney, Phyllis, Exlee and Maudie.
