Obituary

Parkhurst, Robert Arlen, age 82 of Woodhaven passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025. Beloved father of Cindy Parkhurst, Robert (Sophie Paudat) Parkhurst II, and Scott Parkhurst. Dearest grandpa of Shannon, Melissa, Zoe, Gavin, Nicholas, James, Alex and Avery. Bob also leaves behind his siblings Duane (Kathy) Parkhurst, James (Linda) Parkhurst, Barbara (Richard) Bale, and Danny (Kim) Parkhurst, along with many extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert G. and Violet B. Parkhurst and his sister Shirley (Frank) Yonts.

Bob was very proud to serve his country in the US Army from 1960-1963. Following the army, he worked at General Motors (UAW Local 22) before retiring in 1994 after 31 years. Bob was an avid Detroit Lions fan for most of his life and also enjoyed the Tigers, Pistons, and NASCAR. He learned to play guitar by ear and enjoyed country/western music, especially Merle Haggard, and bluegrass. Bob took his greatest pleasure from family get-togethers with his children and grandchildren with whom he was actively involved. He was always willing to lend an ear and could talk through anything with common sense and the wisdom of his years. Perhaps his most endearing quality was his quick wit and one-liners, which will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
