Obituary

Conley Austin Ray, born on February 12, 1945, in Arkansas, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Wyandotte, Michigan, at the age of 81.

Conley was a dedicated family man who cherished his time with loved ones. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 63 years, Neva Ray, and a loving father to his two sons, Bryan Keith Ray and John Austin Ray. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Dalton (Shanay) Ray, Carissa Thomas, Rachel Ray, Becky Discher, Chyenne Foster, and Kane Foster, as well as his great-grandchildren: Konner Russell, Lively Stafford, Emelia Thomas, and Silas Ray.

Conley was preceded in death by his parents, James and Chalmus Ray, and his son, John Ray.

For over two decades, Conley owned and operated his own company, a testament to his hard work and dedication. In his personal life, he found pleasure in hunting with friends and his dogs, and was known for his unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, sass, and a joke that could sting enough to make you laugh. His teasing was his way of showing love, and nothing pleased him more than getting under your skin and seeing you fire back, earning that signature smirk. A natural storyteller who loved revisiting the ‘good ole days’ bringing memories back to life. He leaves behind laughter, stories, and a reminder to keep the banter going. Always.
Conley's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Condolences

  • It was an honor to know Mr. Conley. He was such a wonderful, kind person. Montell & I cannot imagine the loss you are feeling, but I hope the memory of all your years together brings you comfort. Sandrea & Montell
  • I know your heart is broken but hopefully all your memories and laughs will help bring you comfort at this time. A piece of my heart goes with him Neva. I wish I had one last time to talk to him. The last time we talked all we did was laugh and tease each other. He was a special person and friend. I know my mom and dad will hug and take care of him. Love you. Brenda Naylor
