Obituary

Delores Ann Toppings-Rice, known affectionately as “Nanny” to her grandchildren, went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2025, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Born on March 14, 1932, in Branchland, West Virginia, Delores lived a life full of faith, joy, and love until her final days in Redbank, Tennessee.

Delores was the cherished daughter of Haskel and Blanche Toppings. She was a woman of remarkable strength and character, who was preceded in death by her first husband, Hillard Adams, her second husband, Francis Rice, her son Hillard Timothy Adams, and her siblings Bill Toppings and Elnor Reynolds.

Throughout her life, Delores was a beacon of light and positivity. She loved playing the piano, often filling her home with music and joy. Delores loved reading her Bible, which reflected her deep love for Jesus. As a prayer warrior, she touched the lives of many with her unwavering faith and supportive spirit.

Her joyful and playful nature endeared her to friends and family alike. Delores had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She was always adorned in her favorite shoes and jewelry, sparkling with her characteristic bling. She had a big heart for both people and animals, and her kindness and warmth were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Delores is survived by her children, Judy Maynard (Jerry), Mike Adams (Nancy), and Ruth Sciatto (Steve), as well as her dear siblings, Helen Boytek, Charlene Doczi, and Judy Rogero. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren: Jason Maynard (Sarah), Jennifer Noe (Tim), Amanda Adams, Jaime Faircloth (Blaine), Aaron Adams, Danielle Aguilar (David), Allison Sciatto, and Emily Sciatto, along with her 15 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.

  • My Dear Sweet Sister, Delores, I'm struggling to find words to describe the loss I'm feeling, but they just don't exist. I will cherish forever the times we spent together. We laughed, cried and loved. The "sister camaraderie" was so special. You have such a big and loving heart. I have always admired you so much. I know you're in a better place. A place I hope to be someday with you and all our loved ones gone before. That gives me comfort. You are so loved and missed terribly. My heart is broken. With love, You 'baby sister' Judy Rogero
