Radford, Jerry D., passed on to his eternal reward on February 11, 2011 after a long struggle with cancer. He began his life in Johnson City, Tennessee on July 25, 1947 and was the third of six children born to Herbert and Viola Radford. His life was one that was mostly led on his own terms although he could not be described as selfish. He started life as a high spirited child and continued into adulthood with a love of motorcycles, fishing, traveling and socializing with friends and family. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War from 1966 to 1968 and only spoke of his experiences many years later. During his service he received the National Defense service medal, Viet Nam Service medal and the Marksman Rifle Recognition. He had been happily married to Leona Collins since their wedding in 1995 and was enjoying his retirement after a long career as a welder at the Ford Motor Company. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #27 F&AM in Monroe during the last decade of his life. During his life, Jerry always tried to help his children in the best ways possible for their individual needs. He invited into this world his children Stacy, Jeff (Suzanne), Joel (Andrea), Brittany and Joshua Radford and his stepchildren Greg and Treasa Collins. He was a devoted grandpa to Noah, Paris, Monty, Dayton, Casey, Austin, and Andrew. Dear brother of Anna (Tom) Leidel, Diana (Dave) Newton, Phyllis McHone and Kenneth (Connie) Radford. He will be sincerely missed by his many friends, family, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Viola Radford and his infant brother, Ronald Dean Radford.
