Obituary

Jill Anne Ryan, age 63 of Grosse Ile, passed away suddenly on August 12, 2020. Born on October 25, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Francis and Verna Morrison. Jill was the beloved wife to John Ryan, a loving mother to Donna (Amy) Ryan and John Ryan, Jr. She was a caring grandmother to Pemberley and Amelia. Jill is also survived by her two brothers, Daniel and Joseph Morrison. Jill was active in community theater and was very involved in her church, Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church. For anyone who knew Jill, she was often thought of as the “go to person” for lending her beautiful voice to special events such as weddings, funerals and she sang the National Anthem at Michigan Memorial Park’s eternal flame lighting ceremony in November of 2019, and performed at the dedication of the Christmas Box Angel, also in the Park. She also kept busy by being apart of the Boar’s Head Festival and Rotary International on Grosse Ile. In her down time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. For those that knew Jill, they will greatly miss her.

Condolences

  • I only met this very sweet spirit one time. She was the Partridge at the Boars Head event. She was a lovely and talented lady. My condolences to all who knew and loved her. Good night, Mrs. Ryan. Evelyn P Holmes
  • If sound had a light, Jill would be it. Bright, shining, guiding you to everything you ever thought, clung to and felt. Because that is what she has left you with. Sudden is hard, and it hurts. I know. Please, cling to your memories, what she taught you, what she gave you. She is in your heart and in your soul. In that regard, she will never leave you. She truly is always here. You may not know this now, but you will hear her often. And at some point, her memory will bring you joy. She really wants that. Until then, I do know this is hard, and I am so sorry for your pain. Cathy Smolak
