RECTOR, Leitha M., age 93, of Detroit, Michigan, April 03, 2020. Loving mother of Kristina (Michael) Jones. Dearest grandmother of Dana Rector. Leitha served her country as a nurse in the United States Air Force. She loved to read and work in her backyard. She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Cleo Kirksey. Her cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting her I did have the great pleasure of hearing many stories. Not only was she sassy and feisty to the end. Truly a strong woman making powerful decisions to serve her country, and not only choosing to be a mother but raising another beautiful, smart and strong woman. She might have only been a hero to a few but truly lead an heroic life. I expect nothing less than for her to be relaxing in heaven, (tv guide by her side) doing whatever she can to keep her family on her toes. Kari
