Obituary
On September 3, 2026, we lost Maryann Rhodes, dear wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Maryann was a loving wife to Charlie. She was a devoted mother to Amy, Daniel and Matt, and step-mother to Stacey and Rebecca. Super grandma to Emma, Lily, Daniel, Gabe, Alex, Kristopher and Jack. A beloved sister-in-law to Julie Kirila, Darleen Wacker and Sherry Milam. Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and friend to countless people from all walks of life.
Maryann never met a stranger who after a brief conversation, didn’t become her new friend. Outgoing, talkative, and upbeat, Maryann made new friends wherever she went. She was always concerned with your wellbeing and would do whatever was needed to help you. Maryann also had her fun and crazy side that everyone enjoyed.
Born on August 3, 1949, to John and Eva Rini (deceased), she graduated from Servite High School in Detroit In1967. Maryann began her career at the National Bank of Detroit and in a few years, married and started her family.
While over her career, Maryann had many varied and interesting jobs, her calling was as the front office manager for Dr. Ralph Pearlman (her cousin) at his busy colon and rectal surgery practice. For more than 12 years until her retirement in 2013, Maryann was passionate and dedicated to patients’ care and the success of Dr. Pearlman’s practice. Patients, doctors and staff appreciated Maryann’s kindness, compassion and good humor. Beginning work at 4:30 AM daily, Maryann consistently went above and beyond the call of duty.
Maryann was always devoted to her immediate and extended family. She and Charlie loved their annual vacations at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, especially when surrounded by their children, grandchildren and extended family. Maryann became a walking/talking guide to Hilton Head restaurants and entertainment venues. This was her happy place where she would spend her days in the sun, enjoying the pool and her endless trips on the lazy river.
Every year, first thing in the morning, Maryann called family members and friends on their birthday and brought a smile to their face as she sang a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Family and friends loved Maryann for her many acts of kindness, beautiful smile, humor and infectious joy.
While our hearts ache at her passing, her memory will always be a blessing.
A visitation will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, located at 30895 West Huron Drive, Flat Rock, MI 48134 on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 2:00 – 8:00 PM, with Family & Friends Sharing Time at 5:30 PM.
A funeral mass at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, located at 18858 Huron River Drive, New Boston, MI 48164 will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Instate: 10:30 AM. Mass: 11:00 AM.
A luncheon will follow the mass at Crystal Gardens, located at 16703 Fort St, Southgate, MI 48195.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Rhodes Family.
Maryann leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, laughter and love that will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with a smile.
