Obituary

Betty Anne Schafer, a long-time resident of Grosse Ile, passed away on February 12, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on February 22, 1928, in Wyandotte, she was the cherished daughter of Charles and Evelyn Schaffer.

Betty was a devoted member of St. John's Church in Wyandotte for an impressive 96 years, where she found solace and community. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she valued the fellowship and friendships she nurtured within the church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert W. Schafer. Her love for her family and friends was evident in every aspect of her life, and she will be dearly missed by those who survive her. She leaves behind her children, Rob Schafer and Nancy (Jeffry) Manassee, who were the pride and joy of her life. Betty was also a devoted grandmother to two grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense happiness to her later years.

Betty had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her plants with care and dedication. She found joy in feeding the birds that visited her garden, finding peace in their presence. Her love for playing Pinochle with her high school friends remained a cherished pastime throughout her years.

Betty Anne Schafer will be fondly remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her love for those around her. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

  • Wonder if she attended St. Pats High School in Wyandotte? If so, she probably knew my Father Ray Beaudrie. Scott Edward Beaudrie
