Condolences
My deepest sympathy to you Lisa. I worked at KRC. He was a sweet guy . Darlene Wade
I was in the 4th Michigan reenactment group with him. Also seemed to be in a good mood and enjoyed conversation. Sorry about your loss. Robert Scheib
I met Doug at a civil war event in Indiana, nicest guy I've come across in a long time, he wasn't afraid to go above and beyond to help me feel comfortable while in camp and watching the battle, I will miss him dearly. Doug Katzur
Doug was know as "Shackdaddy" to the men of the 12thSC/4th Mi infantry. He will be missed by all of us. He was a good friend, a good cook (well, most of the time anyway,- hey it's hard cooking over an open fire!), he was welcoming, smiles came easily to Shackdaddy, and he welcomed everyone around the evening campfire. Blessings my friend. WALLY COOTS
Doug was always happy, mild mannered, and kind to all who crossed his path. I will never forget my son's Graduation party where he put on a chefs hat and maned the BBQ grill. He loved my son dearly as my son (Nicholas) did to him as well. I bought Nicholas a Harley Davidson and Doug sat and watched him sitting on it. Doug had to have one to so he went out and bought a Harley so he could go riding with Nick. The bond between them grew eminsely. And then my Father Bernie got a bike and the three of them would go riding. They would go fishing together. Countless of family gathering included Doug. He would come over all decked out in his confederate gear and show and tell us all a story about his guns. Halloween he would set up camp and pass out candy next to a fire. My parents Bernie and Trish my son Nicholas and myself will truly miss Doug and will cherish all the memories we were blessed to share with him. Rest easy Triker Amanda Barkell
