Obituary
Gary M. Shimmell, born on June 12, 1939, in Allen Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in Taylor, Michigan, at the age of 85.
Gary was a man whose love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and hunting. He cherished the moments spent on the boat with his brothers Jerry and Larry, casting lines and sharing stories. His patriotism was a cornerstone of his character, and he was known by all as a loving, caring, and humorous individual—a truly good man.
He is preceded in death by his father Ralph Shimmell, his mother Myrtle Higbie, his stepfather Lawrence Higbie, and his brother Jerry Shimmell.
Gary leaves behind a family who adored him. He is survived by his brother Larry Shimmell, his sister Sharon Mahan, and his sister-in-law Carol Shimmell. His memory will also be kept alive by his nieces and nephews: Debbie (Kurtis) Myers, Larry (Linda) Keezer, Marc (Lynn) Keezer, Todd (Stacey) Keezer, and Larry Shimmell.
Though he has departed from this world, Gary's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of love for family, humor, and nature will be remembered always.
