Obituary

SEELEY, George E., age 83, of Fenton, September 26, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Joan Seeley. Loving father of the late David Seeley, Nancy (Randy) Atwell, the late Donald Seeley, Julie (Gordon) Silkworth and Mark Seeley. Dear grandfather of Elicia, Meredith, Wyatt, Christi, Phillip, Jacob, Nathan, Melissa, Amanda, Michael, Jennifer, Maria, David Jr., and Phillip. Dearest great grandfather of 18. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Dianne Darr. He is preceded in death by his parents George Seeley and Martha Kuhnert and sisters Delores and Hannah. Dad was the son of German immigrants born and raised in the city of Detroit. When he was of age, he served his country in The United States Air Force. After his years of service ended, he went to the Police Academy and became a Police Officer for the city of Detroit. He and mom married on May 1,1954, and started their family in a small home on the west side of Detroit. It seemed that he had it made, good job, beautiful wife and family, and a great life ahead of him, but there was something missing. Dad was a religious man, but religion had not satisfied his need for a relationship with God. God brought an officer into his life named Mel Pratt. Mel began witnessing to Dad and he accepted Christ as his Savior. His life was completely changed and he became a bold ambassador for Christ. After retiring from the Detroit Police Department, Dad started a church in Dearborn, and eventually became a pastor of a church in Taylor. He and Mom were avid supporters of missionaries around the world. God only knows how many lives Dad had an impact on preaching the Gospel of Christ. Dad loved his Lord, his family, and the lost souls of men.

Condolences

  • I know it's been awhile since his passing but , I was just thinking about what great pastor he was to talk to. I received Christ as my personal savior in the early 80s and was Baptized by him. I will never forget him and will see him someday with the Lord. May God truly doubly bless his family. Lloyd J Bolin
  • I love and miss you Grandpa. Often you are in my thoughts. Nathan Garrett
