SCHUFF, Henry C., age 84, of Southgate, November 30, 2018. Beloved husband of much loved late wife Karen Schuff. Loving father of Deborah Schuff and David Schuff. Doting, proud grandfather of Derek Schuff. He is also survived by his older brother David Schuff. Beloved brother-in-law of Pam, beloved cousin of Shirley and loving uncle to many nieces, nephews and their families. Henry was born to parents during the Great Depression. Dad grew up on a farm in a small, close knit farming community. The family grew their food, raised their meat and eggs, and sold their crops of tobacco for cash. After graduating high school, dad came north to Detroit where his brother Tom had settled and married. Dad met Mom, married her, then entered the Army and was stationed overseas in Korea. When he returned Uncle Tom helped him get into the pipefitters union that Uncle Tom belonged to. Later on, Dad joined the Masons. He raised us, supported friends and neighbors wherever possible. He never met a child or animal he couldn’t get along with. He was the heart of our home, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents Lurton and Bertha Schuff, his brothers Cooper, Tom and Otis and his sister Virginia. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
Condolences
My Uncle Cliff - one of the truly "old school" men. My parents divorced early on, and now nearing age 60 myself and looking back, I've often realized the role my Dear Uncles Cliff, and Vince, played in my life. As we did not see each other often, their influences on me did not seem consequential as a young man. But, as we gain life experiences, suffer hardships and joys, it becomes clear. Men like Uncle Cliff worked hard, grew up in an era when whining and complaints were not acceptable. Rather, hard work and the loving support of those around you - these were the characteristics - that defined men like Henry Schuff. God bless you Uncle Cliff and thanks for helping me to be a loving man. Dennis Hicks
