SCHLICHTING, Jack R., age 88, of Allen Park, May 15, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Ayako Schlichting. Loving father of Edward Schlichting and Kathy (James) Curry. Dearest grandfather of Kayla, Ryan, Cobie and Owen. He is preceded in death by his parents August and Catherine Schlichting. He was a Korean War Veteran, inspirational leader, father, husband, coach and teacher who made the most of his time here. A gifted storyteller, his tales always seemed to grow larger over the years. Quick witted with a great sense of humor, he never backed down from a verbal sparring session especially with his favorite cousin, Bobby Arnold. A perennial risk taker, he was never afraid to go all in or let it ride at the casino. Jack loved his sports especially the Red Wings, Tigers and Wolverines. He was a member of the Arm of Honor fraternity and even wore a Hammerhead shirt during his final days. Our family will be forever grateful and he is now reunited with Ayako, his wife of 60 years.

Kathy and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. As I have told you several times, you were an amazing daughter and you should always be proud of that. I was fortunate enough to meet your parents and to see their unconditional love for each other. What a blessing. A marriage made in heaven and now reunited in heaven. Ann Drake
