Obituary
James Alfred Spodeck, at the age of 77, passed away peacefully in his Wyandotte, Michigan home on January 29, 2025. Born in Detroit on May 23, 1947, Jim (as he was known to many) lived a full and very active life.
Jim was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. Along with the many family and friends who love him, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Arlene Spodeck; his daughters, Renee (Gary) Truman, Denise (Greg) Konwinski, and Michelle (Dustin) Sikavitsas; and his grandchildren, Anthony, Bradley, Natalie, Dominic S., Arlana, Dominic K., Nathan, Mitchel, William, Benjamin, and Max. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Alexzander, Anderson, and Zaiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Grace Spodeck, and his brother, Michael Spodeck. Jim is survived by his brother, Scott Spodeck, sister-in-law Patricia (Scott) Spodeck, sister-in-law Roseann (Michael) Spodeck, and nephew, Richard Spodeck.
Jim was a proud veteran, holding lifetime memberships with the American Legion and VFW. He was also an active member of the Elks and Moose Clubs in Coldwater, Michigan. He enjoyed being near water and traveling the world. He spent his retirement years on Craig Lake in Coldwater during the summer, and near the ocean in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico during the winter. Jim will be remembered as a protective, loving, and happy man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In accordance to his wishes, a military service will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on May 23, 2025 at 1:30pm which will be held in place of a visitation. James Spodeck’s family is asking that in lieu of gifts or flowers that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society who have been beyond helpful to them over the past year.
