Condolences
- We (my husband and I) were so sad to learn of the passing of Mr. Simms. When we think of him, we recall how friendly and engaging he was, as well as how extremely proud he was of his family. When my sister Rhonda married his son Jim Simms, Jr. in 1975, we immediately became part of Mr. Simms' family, and he and Alva welcomed us with open arms. Ann and Jim Van Sickel
- I have such fond memories of my Grandfather, it was a gift to have him in our lives. From sharing joy over accomplishments to having words of encouragement when we were down. He showed us as grandchildren how to treat people with kindness and consideration. Over the last couple of days I have had several memories that have not crossed my mind in years... Him honking the car horn for no apparent reason, I say "why did you honk the horn grandpa" and he replies "because I wanted to". I remembered him putting me on a horse (the saddle turning upside down) and all the times we went out to eat (I can hear him telling us about the specials). Who could forget the days on the lake and rides on the tube (the bumps and bruises), from the catfish that bit my thumb to the "cat"astrophe of 2017, we will miss him and forever be thankful that Mona and I were able to share our wedding day with him. - We were so sorry to hear the passing of Jim. We have so many fond memories of Jim and Alva. Sitting in the stands for basketball, Tim’s Ford lake, General Jackson. Your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers. Jim and Margaret Lamb
- I think of Jim every year at Christmas time when I watch the Christmas Story. He was the first to introduce us to that movie and he bought me my first BB gun much to my mothers disappointment. Thank you for your friendship and the joy you brought to my family. You will be missed Andy Smith
