STRANG, Jan said good bye to us on November 08, 2021at the age of 85, leaving a legacy of love and devotion. Her luck ran out at the end od 2019 with colon cancer. She joins her mother and father and long-time friends Kay and Marilyn in resting peace. Her husband Chris Strang for 66 years and two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Dermyre and Connie Strang are blest to have had such a loving mother and wife. There is a granddaughter Christina (Doug) Orttenburger and sister Gail (Richard) Gulau also. Jan’s pride was the nurturing of two very fine daughters. But after the nest was empty, she was a supper crafter. Her beautiful quilts will keep us close to her love for our lifetime. She did fine arts oils, stamping, card making, layered paper art pictures, ceramics, flower gardening, sewing and other crafts. To look at Jan was like viewing a beautiful ageless portrait. Her eyes the color of blue that made even the sea and sky envious. Her skin soft like velvet and always with perfect painted lips and the most stylish clothes.Jan’s smile was inviting and her laugh so infectious and heartfelt it could melt an iceberg. Everyone who met her immediately loved her. She shared such charm and kindness with the world.Whether a ski bunny or bathing beauty on the boat she looked amazing. Like a mythical mermaid she’d glide through the water. Eat your heart out Esther Williams.Jan blossomed like a rose and beamed with pride when speaking of her Chris, Connie, Karen (Dennis) and Christina (Doug). For Jan family and friends meant everything.Like and endless splash of colors, she painted our worlds. She opened our eyes to the beauty all around us. This was a lesson I learned early in life. Whether it was the wind whistling in the trees at the cottage or how the water sparkled like dancing diamonds. The smell of her cooking brought great anticipation and a bite into her cookies transported your tastebuds. Jan whipped up comfort foods and delectable dishes full of flavorful tastes and of course that damn green salad. She could take a piece of material and turn it into a magical masterpiece. With her skilled and talented hands anything was possible. Whether sewing or quilting she created fabrics of genius for all to enjoy. Her paintings were refreshing and full of life! They struck inspiration in many hearts. Jan had a green thumb as well and designed the most vibrant colored gardens. She supported dreams and helped them take flight by encouraging someone with an uplifting not in the mail or a call out of the blue. These were the sweet gestures that filled our hearts.Jan always inquired of others and took great interest in how people felt. She loved unconditionally whether healthy, and strong or someone disabled and ill. She never made you feel loke you were anything but perfection. She was always ready with vivacious hugs or with comforting arms for broken hearts. She made her talents look as easy as a leaf blowing in the wind. Her talents too vast to measure or list; hence crowning her the “Queen of Damn Near Everything”.Many talk about living life to the fullest but Jan did. She jumped all in and buckled up ready for new adventures. She was a valiant warrior: in her battle. Even through her difficult times she always asked about others. Her final gifts she leaves behind are echoes of laughter, massive collections of memories and best of all love in our hearts. Perhaps her greatest creation ever was leaving behind an invisible woven cloak to shelter us, protect us, impart wisdom, and shower us with eternity of love, healing hugs, and magical kisses.
