Jean Simpson, 82, of Carleton, born August 15, 1934 died Sunday October 2,2O16 at St. Luke's Hospital , MaumeeOhio. Jean was born to the late Florence (Osborne) and Delbert Woodward in Pikeville, Kentucky. She grew upthere until her family moved to Michigan when she was a teen. She attended Carleton High School. She would go onto be a nanny for a family in Wyandotte, Mi. Soon after she would meet and marry the love of her life ThomasSimpson on November 20, 1953. From this union they welcomed ten children and made their home in Carleton,Mi. She was blessed with twenty four grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.She was a devoted homemaker and loving mother. She is survived by her children Thomas and (Dawn) Simpsonof Dundee,Lisa and James) Boyer of Westland, Sarah Hounshell of New Boston, Geri Griffith of Monroe, Carrie(Richard) Wilson of Holly, Tami [Dan) Wegman of Monroe and Michelle fMichael) Calabrese of Gainsville Florida.She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R, Simpson, her daughters: Melinda Smith, Valerie Simpson,Jeannie Simpson, granddaughter Nicole Hounshell and great grandson Ethan Wicka. Following the service a luncheon will be held at Salute Restaurantin Flat Rock.
