
Obituary
Dearest Larry Dale Showler passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Larry was a lifelong resident of Taylor, MI. He was a devoted husband, father, brother/brother-in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend. Larry enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved going on Caribbean cruises (at least 14) and golfing with family and friends. His smile brightened every room and his corny jokes spread joy and laughter. He was always there to help anyone in need: family, friends, neighbors and strangers.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife Carol. Their 72-year love story was endearing and sweet. He is also survived by his children Steven and Dawn (Keith). He was a proud grandfather of Kristel Showler, Derek Showler, Katelyn Niedergang (Scott) and Olivia Suski. He was also a Great Grandfather to Anastasia Showler-Little and Forrest Niedergang.
Larry is preceded in death by his son, Dale Nicholas and daughter, Debra Kay Showler. His parents Claribell and Linton Showler, and his brothers Fred and Robert (Bob) Showler.
Larry was a strong and competitive athlete. He played baseball, hockey and golf. He retired after 28 years from the Ford Distribution Plant in Brownstown as a skilled tradesman. After his retirement, Larry was blessed to spend 24 years as a ranger at Lakes of Taylor golf course. He formed many lifelong friendships along the way.
Larry was loved dearly by family and fond memories will be cherished. His sense of humor and smile will be kept close to our hearts forever.
