Obituary
Larry Franklin Shivel, born on November 26, 1943, at Delray Hospital, passed into our Heavenly Father's hands on October 30, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan at the age of 81. A man of strong faith and boundless love for his family, Larry lived a life full of warmth, adventure, and dedication.
Preceded in death by his beloved daughter Cynthia Shivel, his parents Dorothy and Lawrence Shivel, brother Phillip Shivel, sisters Nolene Shivel and Kimberly (Shivel) Seay, and nephews Jeffrey and Bradley Suessine, Larry leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Shivel and Karen (Shivel) Morrow, son-in-law Josh, and his grandchildren, Cory and Candice Shivel and Caden and Brady Morrow. Additionally, he leaves behind his sisters Linda Laurell and Sherri Shivel and many nieces and nephews who lovingly knew him as "Uncle Duck."
Larry retired after a long career at Ford Motor Company, as a foreman at the Dearborn Assembly Plant. Outside of work, Larry was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for cars and the open road. He was often found enjoying the freedom of his Harley Davidsons or riding his bike around town. He cherished the sun and loved to travel to warm places. Larry lived in Myrtle Beach to be closer to the sun and Deerfield Beach where he proudly worked as a park ranger. However, his home was always downriver Michigan. His love for travel took him to places far and wide, but he always cherished the joy of chauffeuring the Shivel brothers to and from Kentucky, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
Larry's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He had an ear for Motown and classic rock music. He loved flowers and gardening. Larry loved working out at the gym, especially Rob's gym. He even competed in a few body builder competitions. Larry appreciated the simple pleasures of life, such as indulging in chocolate malts and savoring a cold Pepsi. Above all, it was his family that held the most important place in his heart, a source of immense pride and joy.
Larry Franklin Shivel's legacy is one of love, strength, and joy. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
