Obituary

STEWART, Margaret M., age 81, of Brownstown. Margaret lost her long time battle with cancer on October 28, 2009. Beloved wife of James Stewart, Jr. Loving mother of Diane Welch and Barbara (Daniel) Law. Dear grandmother of Michael (Alison) Law, Patrick Law and Zachary Welch. She is also survived by many loving relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Max Voss, Jr. and her son-in-law Larry Welch. Margaret was born April 4, 1928 to Max and Annie Voss. She began her childhood on a farm on Arsenal Road in Brownstown Township. Her family then moved to a farm outside Whittemore, Michigan. There she graduated from Whittemore High School. She then moved to Detroit, staying with a family friend, while working as an overseas operator for Michigan Bell. Her aunts Emmy and Mary Reinhold, who ran the E and M Market in Brownstown, introduced her to a customer, a young paratrooper home from WWII, James Stewart, Jr. James and Margaret were married on November 11, 1950. In time they were blessed with two daughters, Diane and Barbara and moved to James’ childhood home on Joyce Road in Brownstown. Here they lived a quiet life, taking great pride in their home and yard. Among their many friends and close neighbors, Margaret was known as a hard worker, great cook and for having the “cleanest house in town.” The family would like to express a special thank you to Margaret’s care givers Dorothy Brinson, Ann Crump and Sherri Swartout.
