MaryLou was born on October 29, 1927 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Maurice and Cecelia Padot. MaryLou was hit by love at first sight and married the love of her life, Frank Smith Jr, in 1948. They had a wonderful marriage of 67 years before Frank’s passing in 2015. Together, they had three children, Larry (Colleen) Smith, Patricia (Charles) Rogers and Thomas (Sharon) Smith. She was a devoted grandmother to Jeff (Jennifer Isherwood) Smith, Rachel (Tim) Laskoski and Shane (Rachel) Rogers. A loving step-grandmother to Jason (Bobbie) Rice and John (Nicole) Rice. MaryLou was the proudest great-grandmother to Lola, Poppy and Goldie Laskoski. After attending college to support their starting business she worked at Ford Motor Company as a bookkeeper. She continued to do bookkeeping in the family greenhouse business. MaryLou was a very religious person and often said “Just pray and trust”. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, spending the winters in Hawaii and Florida, and traveling to religious sites around the world. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She is preceded in death by her two brothers Robert and Maurice Padot, Jr, and a sister, Shirley Drumm. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Audrey Padot and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Services will be a very small close family only event due to Covid.
