Obituary

Barbara Ann Terpstra, born on August 21, 1941, in Port Huron, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Southgate at the age of 84. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Terpstra; her parents, Harry and Irma Bishop; her brother, Clifton Bishop; her sister, Donna Klaus; brother-in-law Richard Klaus, her nephew, Paul Klaus; and her cherished best friend, Mary Justice. Her loyal fur babies, Starkey Boy and Baby Girl, also held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her loving children, Lynn (Patrick) Sharlow, Sherri Rickett (Jan), and twins Patricia Wagner, Ruth Nelson, and their loving families. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Sara (Chris) Greene, Nicole (Ryan) Coffey, Cory (Amanda) Coffey, John (Alexandra) Sharlow, Angelo Sharlow, and Vincent (Kate) Sharlow. Barbara's joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren: Aleah (Wyatt), Dymetry, Kyler, Haylee, Brynn, Donnie Jr., Isabelle, Issac, Brielle, AJ, Eli, Hunter, Parker, Ford, and Wells.

Barbara had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests. She found joy in the simple pleasures of playing Bingo, crocheting beautiful creations, and indulging in Butterfinger candy bars. She was an avid fan of the Game Show Network and never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandson Cory as he bowled. A loyal supporter of the Detroit Tigers, she enjoyed many games with family and friends. Her fondness for Dunkin Donuts was well-known among those close to her.

Barbara's gentle spirit and unwavering love for her family will be dearly missed. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
