Obituary

David Michael Thill, born on February 4, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away  on December 7, 2025, at the age of 74, in Riverview, Michigan. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

David spent his life cultivating an array of interests that brought joy to himself and those around him. A passionate golfer, he found solace on the greens, reveling in the tranquility of the sport. His love for the natural world extended to his garden, where he nurtured flowers with tender care. Cooking was another of David's many passions, and he delighted in sharing his culinary creations with family and friends. An enthusiast of all things festive, David took particular pleasure in decorating for Christmas, transforming his home into a winter wonderland each year.

A collector at heart, David had an eye for treasured items, including coins and stamps, and his collections were a testament to his keen interest in history and detail. Above all, he adored dogs, and his beloved companions, Casey and Sadie, held a special place in his heart.

David is predeceased by his father, Eugene Thill, his stepson, Jimmy, and his brother, Danny. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Bonnie, who stood by his side as a true partner in life. He will be deeply missed by his children: Ariel (David Contesso) Cleveland, Heather (Mark) Hastings, Eric (Tonia) Thill, and David Thill. His legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

David is also survived by his mother Carol Thill, sister, Deborah Roomian, and his brothers, Donald Thill and Dennis Thill, along with numerous nieces and nephews who carry forward his spirit and zest for life.

In remembering David, we honor his enduring love for his family, his infectious enthusiasm for life’s simple pleasures, and his steadfast dedication to those he held dear. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Condolences

  • Bonnie, and Family, Our condolences on Dave’s passing. Aside from being a terrific neighbor, Dave was a generous soul. His homemade brisket, bean soup, and key lime pie was always delicious. His love of gardening, especially his tomatoes, and giant sunflowers, were award worthy. Dave enjoyed being the “Street Captain” of our own Neighborhood Watch. You needn’t worry when you had a large package delivered, or if a repairman came by, or your house was vacant for two weeks while on vacation. Dave had you covered. His laugh, and smile will be an eternal flame to those who befriended him. With sympathy, Michael + Julie Porreca Michael + Julie Porreca
