Obituary
David Leroy Tomey, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2026, in Huron Township, Michigan. Born on March 13th, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, David lived a full life of 87 years, marked by dedication and love for his family and community.
David dedicated much of his life serving others. He was a proud Army veteran. A faithful member of Myrtle Lodge No. 89, serving as District Deputy Instructor, Eastern Star Belleville Chapter No. 73, and Scottish Rite Mason, each for more than 50 years. He was also a Moslem Shriner, Legion of Honor member, and state official and Chairman of the Guards and Guardians of Rainbow for greater than 40 years.
Throughout his many years as a Shriner, many were spent as a transportation driver for Shrine Children's Hospitals. Service isn't something David did, it was who he was.
Anyone who knew David likely remembers his sense of humor. He enjoyed the little things, like camping, watching baseball, tinkering, and his greatest joys of all, his daughter and grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Opal Tomey, and his grandmother, Pearl Troutt. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Crystal Graves, her husband, David, and his three grandchildren, Ian, Tyler, and Colton Graves. David was adopted as an only child in 1942, but actually had 14 biological brothers and sisters, plus one stepbrother. David is survived by one biological sister JoAnn Orr.
David's legacy is one of love, dedication, and service. He touched the lives of many with his warmth and kindness, and left the world better than he found it. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
