  • Gary carried a powerful presence into any room. Gary was no push over. As a cousin, I was privileged to hear his heart on issues that mattered. He cared about family, friends, hard work and service to his country. He listened and respectfully came to his steadfast decisions. My last conversation with Gary was just 10 days ago. He was filled with positive thinking and loving concern for his Kathy. He said, “I could never repay her for her loving care for me.” He eagerly shared about the car he was working on. It was a sweet conversation of how good life was for him. Our prayers join others for grace and comfort in the days ahead. Surely… life will feel a bit empty without his presence filling the room. Much love to all, we are so sorry for your loss. ♥️~ cousin ~ Linda & hubby, Ike Ike & Linda Ruckman
  • What a blessing both Gary and Kathy have been to us since meeting them in Clifton, Tennessee, where we live, and they owned (and came to...only when the weather was just right, huh, Kathy) We could not have asked for more caring and helpful people, always pitching in, even when Gary should have been resting his weakened body. The joy and laughter, and that quick, dry wit, will be sorely missed. The boatride up River, with the tow back. The amazing hospitality "Up North" when we visited just this last summer. The cookouts and all the fun and laughter. Not sure how we'll ever get our TV's working again without his knowledge! We love you both so much. The wonderful memories of so many fun times is what we can never lose! God Bless you Kathy. Please don't fade into only a memory now! Love you, my friend. 💔💙❤️ Gary Tomes
  • I was saddened by the news of Gary passing. I enjoyed working with him at Sysco, My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Gary Tomes
  • Dad and I were sad to hear about Gary this morning. He started out as a customer and quickly became a friend. He would do anything to help us. We are praying for the family. If there is anything we can do please let us know. Adam and Tony Rooney
  • Every once in a while your path will cross with people who are an acquaintance and become dear friends. That's Kathey and Gary! We always look forward to our Michigan friends arrival at the river. Gary always had a "to do" list that he was working on. The winter months gave him time to plan how he could improve his place. Kathy was busy getting supplies and helping unpack for their stay. Gary was always telling Donnie to take care of himself and slow down wile, at the same time, he was going full steam even when he wasn't in the best of health. We have so much respect for Gary's service to our country and his sacrifice while serving. He had many talks with Donnie and we knew , with Gary, he never sugar coated anything. Gary had a softer side as everyone knew how much he loved Kathey and she was always there for him. What fun we had last spring when we went out on the boat and caught all those stripes. Gary was determined to beat me and I delighted in staying ahead of him and watching him try to catch up! I was ready for a new challenge this spring. Kathey, we loved Gary and we love you! Our prayer is that our Lord will embrace you and comfort you during this time of great loss. We will never forget our witty, patriotic, golf cart riding, mower buying, general fix it man, and dog loving Gary❤️ Donnie and Pat
