TACKETT, Robert D., age 82, of Milan, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, March 06, 2016. He passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Robert was born on March 31, 1933 in Virgie, Kentucky to Arthur and Mabel Tackett. He married Linda Hall on October 12, 1956 in Clintwood, Virginia. Together they had three children, Shelly, Cheryl and Jonathan. He graduated from Virgie High School in 1952. He went onto serve in the 7th Infantry Division in Korea as a tank commander from February 1954 to December 1955. He joined the division’s pistol team and was ranked the number one shooter. Robert moved to Michigan afterwards and worked for 30 years at Great Lakes Steel. After retirement, he owned his own business as a master electrician, Tackett’s Electric. Robert and Linda made their home in New Boston for 36 years before moving to Milan. For over twenty years, they enjoyed their winters in Leesburg, Florida. Robert enjoyed spending special moments with his grandchildren, playing cards, casino trips, and hunting and fishing. Robert lived a wonderful life and was loved by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Linda of 59 years; daughter Cheryl (Willy) Scott; son Jonathan (Kim); six grandchildren, Danae’ (Andrew) Moore, Elijah Scott, Lauren, Natalie, Hannah and Zachary Tackett; and two great grandchildren Aiden and Delaena Moore. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Shelly, his brothers Grady, Earsel, Edgel and his sister Doreen (Paul) Calmes.
