Roger Glenn Tyree passed away on July 12, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan, at the age of 78. Born on October 29, 1946, in Oakhill, West Virginia, Roger was known for his warm heart and steadfast dedication to his family and country.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Roger carried the discipline and honor he learned in service throughout his life. He worked as a skilled millwright at General Motors Co., where he devoted many years of hard work and craftsmanship.
Roger's life was rich with passions and pastimes that brought joy to both himself and those around him. He had a great love for watching country westerns, attending classic car shows, and spending time camping in the great outdoors. An avid sports fan, Roger cherished moments spent at sporting events with his son, Kenny, and was a devoted supporter of the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions.
Family was the cornerstone of Roger's life. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Sue; his brother, Michael; and his parents, Francis and Beulah. Roger is survived by his sons, Stanley Tyree and Kenneth Tyree, who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. He leaves behind his cherished siblings, Betty (the late John) and Kay (Tony), and his former spouse, Julie Tyree. His grandpups, Captain, Sam, and Ducky, brought him much happiness and comfort. Roger also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Roger was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was taking a peaceful nap, playing spider solitaire, or indulging in his fondness for sweets. As a scout leader, he imparted valuable life skills and wisdom to many young lives, leaving an indelible mark on his community.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, with a service to follow at 3:30 PM. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park. While flowers are welcome, the family also encourages memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Roger will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His spirit, humor, and unwavering loyalty will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
