Obituary

Shirley Ann Taylor, born on July 24, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of 89.

A devoted and loving matriarch, Shirley dedicated her life to creating a nurturing home filled with warmth and joy. Her passions included sewing, gardening, and baking, through which she expressed her creativity and care for those around her. An avid bird watcher, she found peace and wonder in nature's beauty. Above all, her family was her greatest treasure and her life's central focus.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Byron Taylor, her cherished great-grandson Justin, her brother James Reed, and her parents, Marsh and Marvelle Reed.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her surviving family: her son Randy (Patricia) Taylor; her grandchildren Keith (Shawna) Taylor, Heather (David) Dejesus, Rachel (Derek) McCulley, Jeremy Ling, and Rebecca (Jeff) Clark; and her great-grandchildren Hailey, Ashley, Hanna, Zechariah, Caleb, and Noah. She also had the joy of welcoming a great-great-grandchild, Olivia, into her life. Shirley is further survived by her dear friend Marge Janowski, her brother Fred (Patricia) Reed, her sister Barbara Ledford, and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. A service to honor Shirley's life will be held there on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aspen Assisted Living, reflecting Shirley's compassionate spirit and enduring impact on all who knew her.

Shirley Ann Taylor will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love, gentle kindness, and the beautiful memories she created with her family. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
