Obituary

George Jesse Vail, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2026 at the age of 83. Born on November 23, 1942, in River Rouge, George lived a life full of laughter, love, and dedication to his family and country.

George’s sense of humor was a hallmark of his personality, bringing smiles and laughter to all who knew him. He was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his skill and creativity. His love for the open road was evident in his fondness for riding his motorcycle, a pastime that brought him great freedom and happiness. George expressed himself through poetry, capturing the beauty of life in his writings. An avid fan of fishing shows, George enjoyed the tranquility they offered. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandson, Nicholas, watching him play baseball and sharing in his accomplishments.

George served his country with pride in the United States Navy aboard the USS Jupiter, embodying a deep love for America. He was an active member of the American Legion and a proud Mason, finding purpose within these communities.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Vail, and his siblings, Bobby Vail, Carolyn Murphy, and Susie Vail-SoRelle. George leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Christina Vail, Seanna Vail-Butler, and George Vail II; his cherished grandson, Nicholas Vail; and his brother, Sean Vail. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, honoring George's spirit of generosity and care for others.
