Anna Mae (Chopp, Murphy) Winkler was summoned home by her Heavenly Father on March, 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 3, 1943, in Daisytown, PA to the late Anthony and Margaret “Vi” Chopp. Anna attended Lone Pine Grade School, Trinity High School (class of 1961), and Penn Commercial College. She retired as a Grant Management Technician from the Department of Environmental Protection, Wilkes-Barre, PA after 26 years of state service. She married her love, Albert “Al” Winkler, on November 23, 1978, who died on September 20, 2021. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Brownstown, MI, and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas, PA, and Laboratory Presbyterian Church, Washington, PA. Anna was always active in her faith community, serving various committees, organizations, church council, and church treasurer. She thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the senior choir. Anna enjoyed flower gardening, feeding birds, and crafting, reading, and enjoying the majority of god’s creation. Her motto was “Life is to be celebrated every day.” Her greatest joy and pride was her family. She is survived by her four children: Tonia (Bill) Campbell and Gena Murphy of Flat Rock, MI, Sheryl (David) Johnson of Pittsburgh, PA and Albert (Cindy) Winkler of Imperial, PA. Five grandchildren: Billy Campbell, Eric (Andrea) Campbell, Zachary Johnson, Hannah Ham and Alyssa Johnson. One great-grandson: Liam Campbell. Brothers: Timothy (Carol) Chopp and Charles (Laura) Chopp. Many nieces and nephews, especially Megan (born on her birthday), and a host of dear cousins and friends. She was a kind, loving, and devoted soul to all. Her faith in God and pure love of friends and family will be strength for those of us left behind to treasure and fondly remember. Her cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
Condolences
Bill & Tonia,
We are saddened to hear of your loss. Although we only met her a few times she was a wonderful lady with a beautiful smile. May the Lord give you comfort in knowing she is with Him and that you will see her again one day.
With love,
Josh, Karyn and Elizabeth Josh & Karyn Carnahan
Anna and I met back in the 1980's while taking the city bus into Wilkes-Barre every day together. Although she was 20 years older than me, we became fast friends. I looked forward to her smile and familiar face each morning and of course catching up on our lives. As time went by, I moved out of the Dallas area and our contact was more like every 6-12 months. This past summer of 2021 we reconnected and once again and got caught up with our lives. Then I received word in her Christmas card of 2021 that "her beloved Al had passed away". Both her and Al were loving, kind people and I seen her as an incredible christian role model for her family and community. My love and prayers go out to her children. She always spoke so highly of each of you. It was apparent how much she loved you. My condolences go out to each of you. Love, Jane (Lewis, Gildea) Schramm Jane Schramm
