Obituary

Barbara Arlene Williams, aged 91, passed away on October 7, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan. Born on February 10, 1935, in Pe Ell, Washington, Barbara lived a life marked by love, compassion, and quiet strength.

Barbara was a devoted homemaker who cherished her family above all else. She was known for her loving and compassionate nature, her thoughtfulness, and her gentle, reserved demeanor. A passionate reader, Barbara found great joy in romance and mystery novels, with Nora Roberts as her favorite author and "On the Night of the Seventh Moon" by Victoria Holt holding a special place in her heart.

Her love extended beyond books to the beauty of nature. Barbara took immense pride in her flower gardens, spending countless hours planting, weeding, watering, and nurturing her blooms. She delighted in feeding the birds that visited her garden and was an enthusiastic card player among family and friends. Above all, her greatest passion was embroidery; she lovingly crafted blankets for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, Barbara enjoyed making homemade jelly, which she generously shared as Christmas gifts.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, David "Dave" Williams; her granddaughter Amanda Stevens; her parents Hosea and Lola Phelps; sisters Dora, Clara, Opal, Lorraina, and Leoda; and brothers Denver, Lawrence, Lloyd, Lester, and Glen.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children Ron (Chris) Williams, Steve (Jane) Williams, Val (Ron) Taylor, Sherrie (Dan) Lafferty, Marianne (Bob) Williams, and Rod Williams; grandchildren Karen, Mark, Michelle, Lisa, BJ, Brandon, and Katie; great-grandchildren Jacob, Sam, Reece, Charlotte, Olivia, Dexter, Willow, and Margot; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:30 PM at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2:30 PM. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.

Condolences

  • I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I recognized her picture instantly. I met her several times when visiting Sherrie during our much younger days. She was always friendly and involved in her children's lives. I was devastated to read her obituary and to find out the passing of Sherrie and Dan's daughter. I am so sorry. I remember visiting both babies (Michelle and Amanda) in Lincoln Park after they were born. Many prayers to your families. JoAnn DiMartino Fry
  • So sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to the family. Carol Ripple Murray
