Betty J. Wilson, née Towler and formerly Sutton, passed on March 24, 2025, at the age of 92 in Monroe, Michigan. She was born on January 12, 1933, in Wyandotte, Michigan, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Throughout her life, Betty was devoted to her family and community. She worked as a paraprofessional and school bus driver, roles through which she touched many young lives with her kindness, love, and dedication. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she dedicated much of her time to being a 4-H Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and Campfire Girls Leader.
Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as gardening, spending time in nature, and being outdoors. She had a deep love for country music, especially Willie Nelson, and was a proud member of the Willie Nelson Fan Club. Traveling and camping were among her favorite activities, providing cherished memories with her family, whom she adored and raised with love and care.
She is preceded in death by her husband C.L. Wilson; her sons, Bruce Sutton and Dan Sutton; her granddaughter, Anna Brey; her twin brother, Billy Towler; her brothers, Oscar Towler, Jim Towler, and Dale Towler; and her parents, Ira and Nellie Towler.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her daughter Georganna (Tim) Brey, son Aaron Hayes, son Rod (Jennie) Sutton, and daughter Carolyn (Ron) Sutton. Her memory will also be cherished by her seven grandchildren: Tracie Brey, Regan (Will) Hough, Joda (Kat) Sutton, Julie Mitchinson, Jason Sutton, Jenna Sutton, and Hailee Sutton, along with her eleven great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Shirley Maddox, Bernice Mouro, and Sharon (Eugene) Allie, and her many nieces and nephews, along with countless friends, will remember her very fondly.
Cremation has taken place, and Betty's final resting place will be at Michigan Memorial Park. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and honor her remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in keeping with Betty's spirit of caring and generosity.
May Betty rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature she so loved, and the music that brought joy to her heart.
