Obituary

WATSON, Charles D., age 74, of Grosse Ile, March 23, 2021. Beloved husband of Fran Watson. Loving father of Debbie (Ken) Reininger, Dave (Tracy) Watson and Chuck II (Robyn) Watson. Dearest grandfather Nick and Justin Reininger, Logan, Chase and Hayden Watson, Tori, Lauren and Jessica Brent, Taylor Watson and Brent and Noemi Watson and great-grandfather of Manny and Zuleyka. He is also survived by his sister Joyce (Tommie) Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents Anna Bell Gann and George Watson. As most of you know, Chuck was the driving force behind the growth and success of Watson Engineering. Chuck started this Company out of his garage in the early 80’s and built it from 1 employee to over 350 employees today with locations in Taylor, Brownstown and South Carolina. He was a gifted entrepreneur who had a natural knack for envisioning the world like no other, a skill that can’t be taught. Chuck treated everyone with respect, no matter who you were. He had endless energy and a zest for life that was an inspiration to the rest of us (we all tried but we all knew that we could never keep up with him). In spite of all his successes, he always remained a humble, generous and kind person but most of all, a devoted family man. Family was always number one with Chuck, whether it was his immediate family or his second family here at Watson Engineering. I have been very lucky to have been able to work with Chuck over the years and he taught me so much. I will be forever in his gratitude and I know I’m not the only one here that feels that way. We will miss Chuck greatly but he will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. The family would like you to respect their privacy at this time but please keep Chuck and his entire family in your thoughts and prayers. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

  • Until that fateful day when the mighty trumpet sounds, and we are all called together on God's Golden Shore, Godspeed my friend. As always, we won't have any trouble finding you in the crowd, there are no others like you. I am sure you will be getting something up and organized. Dave Lyall Dave Lyall
  • Dear Fran and family, We are so very sorry to hear of Chucks loss. Even though I had known Chuck for a long time , it was the 6 years I worked for him in South Carolina where I got to know him better and really enjoyed working for and with him. You are in our prayers and we pray that the Lord gives you the strength needed as you learn to deal with his loss. Oggie & Maggie Oggie & Maggie Nash
  • My dad and I met Chuck back in the 80's when he was installing SS exhaust systems in old cars through adds in the free press. That car upgrade project changed my life - Chuck had this contagious zeal to improve things and introduced me to his contacts at Ford engine division - I hired in there as soon as possible and continued to work with Chuck's team with my Ford projects. A trip to Watson engineering was always time well spent and they always excelled at delivering great fabricated prototypes (along with mending said prototypes after testing set backs). My dad and I encouraged Chuck to take up golf after spending a lunch hour with him hitting balls at a driving range. Guess what? Chuck conquered golf too! He was really good at most things he took on in life and his can do attitude made him an early mentor of ours. Watson engineering always had big part of their culture derived from Chuck and we're always fun to work with. I'm so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. Darrell Drouillard. Darrell and Pat Drouillard
  • To the Watson family, May your sadness be short and the wonderful memories of Chuck bring smiles and warmth to your hearts. He was a great friend and influence on my life as I witnessed his humor, kindness and generosity first hand. There were many Sunday mornings at the bakery drawing up plans on napkins for boat, bike or car parts -we certainly had a lot of fun. I miss him dearly. He once introduced me to a friend he revered and later commented, "He is a Prince of a man" . Thats how I will always think of Chuck , A Prince of a Man. Dave Rudziensky
  • Dear Fran, Debbie, David and Chuck II and Extended Family, We were so sorry and shocked to hear of Chucks passing. What a wonderful person he was. Always had a smile with a big heart. We had some great times together with all of you. He will be missed by everyone. God looked down from heaven and saw a shinning star and that star was his to gain. Chuck is in a special place now where he will watch over all those who knew and loved him. May God comfort you in the days ahead. Please accept our condolences in the loss of a great man. Rest in Peace Chuck until we meet again. Jeff & Chris Gover
